As someone who specializes in telling stories, let me share with you my own story. My connection with a camera starts in a time before I was even born. It starts with the passing away of my grandparents.

I didn’t grow up with a big family. It was just my parents and sisters for the most part. Once I got older, I started to ask more about where I came from and my family. My parents told me stories about where they grew up and what it was like. They shared these stories along with photographs they brought with them from Mexico.

I was able to see my mother as a young girl and my father in high school. Then, they shared with me photos of my grandparents. From my fathers side, they had both passed away before I was able to meet them. What I have left of them are passed down stories and a collection of old photographs.

My work is a visual representation of my own understanding of love. It’s being able to be a part of a moment and tell that story. Once that moment has passed, all we will have left are passed down stories and a collection of photographs.
