Engagement Guide
- Revised 6/7/25
So, you've just booked your engagement session, and you might be wondering, what comes next? Don’t worry, I'm here to guide you. Below, you'll find tips to help make your engagement session personal and unforgettable. I will walk you though on what to bring and what to expect.
Your Outfits
There is no cookie cutter formula to recommend how you should be dressed. It is all personal taste. To help you choose your outfits, here are some things to consider:
Compliment your location. Think about the scene you chose and consider complimenting it with your outfit colors and style
Consider not matching with your background. If you are in the sand dunes and you are surrounded by light browns and tan colors, consider not wearing those colors so you don’t disappear with the background. Instead consider wearing colors that are complimenting and make you stand out
Consider bringing an extra pair of shoes. This one goes out to the ones that like to wear heels. They are beautiful to wear in your photo session, but consider brining slip-ons while we walk around our location
Consider bringing an extra change of clothes. If you are considering a beach setting and want to go in the water, consider bringing a towel and/or an extra change of clothes.
Ladies and gents, do not forget we will be taking a lot of ring shots so this would be a perfect opportunity to get your nails done
Props & Sentimental Items
This photo session is all about your love story. To beautifully tell it, consider bringing along sentimental items that hold special meaning for both of you. Or perhaps you're envisioning something more playful, like colorful smoke bombs! Whatever you choose, remember, this is uniquely your love story. Here are a few things to consider:
Engagement ring
Roses/ flowers
Smoke bombs
Bubbles
Chalk board for save the date
Champagne
Being a Model is Not Required
You don't need to be professional models or know a hundred different poses! I've got you both completely covered when it comes to guiding you through natural and beautiful interactions. What would be incredibly helpful, though, is for you to perhaps look around for poses that genuinely catch your eye. Feel free to create a small collection on your phone and have it ready to share with me on the day of your session.
Your Love Story
As I often emphasize, this is truly your unique love story. I repeat this because it's paramount that your session feels authentically you. No matter the location we choose, we are guaranteed to capture breathtaking images. Simply bring the love and energy, and I'll take care of the rest.
